Planning and Zoning Administrator: Charles Kelly

The Planning and Zoning Department for the City of Camilla works with commercial and residential land developers by implementing the City of Camilla’s Zoning Ordinance and Comprehensive Land Use Plan. This department assists the land development community and public in the verification of building setbacks, parking requirements, designated zoning of property, variance requests, signage and landscaping. 

City of Camilla Planning Commission
The City of Camilla Planning Commission is a 5 member board authorized under Title Eight, Article A, Section 8-1-1 of the Code of the City of Camilla. In its capacity as an advisory board, the Planning Commission conducts hearings for certain land development requests and prepares recommendations for consideration by the Camilla City Council.

The purposes of the commission are to:
(1)       Develop and maintain land use plans, administrative procedures,zoning ordiance, subdivision regulations, and design ordinances for local government adoption;
(2)       Recommend and/or develop and maintain other plans, ordinances, and "tools" relating to land use as needed by the city. Such documents may include sign ordinance, redevelopment plan, and others;
(3)       Hold public hearings on plans/ordinances or changes thereto.

Regular meetings of the Planning Commission are held on the first Monday of each month (meetings are not conducted in January or September). Special meetings may be called by the Chairman as needed and agenda items are published in The Camilla Enterprise and posted on the City of Camilla’s website. The meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Camilla City Hall Council Chambers located at 30 East Broad Street.

A typical agenda for the Planning Commission may include rezoning requests, subdivision plats and site plans, conditional use applications, variance requests, and general administrative items.
