CITY TAXES
The Mitchell County Tax Commissioner is responsible for billing, collecting and mailing of city property tax notices. Taxes are based on property values determined by the Mitchell County Tax Assessor’s Office.  In addition to real estate, taxable property includes personal property, mobile homes, boats, aircraft, farm machinery, motor vehicles, and business assets. All real estate and personal property is taxable unless the property has been exempted by Georgia Law (see O.C.G.A. 48-5-9). Taxes are billed in the fall of each tax year for the period of January 1 through December 31 of that year. Annual property tax bills are mailed on October 1 and due by December 1.
